What Is Affiliate Marketing?

Understand how affiliate links, referrals, and commissions work before you publish your first product.

We will take this one step at a time. You do not need prior experience. By the end of the lesson, you will know exactly what this concept means and what action comes next.

What you’ll learn
  • What an affiliate link is
  • How a commission is tracked
  • Why trust matters more than posting volume
01

The simple definition

Affiliate marketing is a business model where you recommend another company’s product or service. When someone uses your unique link and completes a qualifying purchase, the company may pay you a commission.

02

What makes your link different?

An affiliate link contains tracking information connected to your affiliate account. That tracking helps the merchant identify that you referred the customer. EverCore keeps the affiliate URL attached when a product moves into a Product Pack and Mini Shop.

Core Tip

Focus on understanding the purpose of this step. You can return to the details whenever you need them.

03

How commissions work

Each affiliate program sets its own rules. Commission percentages, qualifying purchases, tracking windows, payment schedules, and restricted promotion methods can differ. Always read the current program agreement before publishing.

04

Your real job

Your job is not to pressure people into buying. Your job is to help people make a better decision. Useful comparisons, honest explanations, clear benefits, and transparent disclosures build more trust than repetitive sales language.

05

Disclosure matters

Tell visitors that your links are affiliate links and that you may earn a commission. EverCore includes a storefront disclosure, but you should also follow the rules of each platform and affiliate program where you share content.

Lesson summary

What to remember

  • Affiliate marketing pays for qualifying referrals, not simply for posting a link.
  • Every program controls its own commission and tracking rules.
  • Trustworthy, useful content is the foundation of a sustainable affiliate business.
