API key in plain language
An API key is a secret code that lets EverCore request content from your chosen AI provider using your account. It works like a service password and should be protected.
Create the key
Sign in to your provider’s developer or API dashboard, open the API keys section, and create a new secret key. Give it a recognizable name such as EverCore.
Take your time and verify each field before moving forward.
Copy it once
Many providers reveal a secret key only at creation. Copy it carefully and paste it directly into EverCore. Do not save it in public notes, source code, screenshots, or social posts.
Choose a supported model
Select a model that your account can actually access. A correct key can still fail if the model name is unavailable, misspelled, retired, or not enabled for your account.
Run the connection test
EverCore should confirm that the provider responds. If it fails, check the key, model, provider choice, account billing status, internet connection, and any provider usage limit.
Protect and replace
If you believe the key was exposed, revoke it in the provider dashboard, create a replacement, and update EverCore. Never continue using a key that may be public.
