What is GitHub?
GitHub is an online platform that stores projects and can publish websites. EverCore uses it as the home for your Mini Shop files so you can publish without maintaining a traditional web server.
Create your account
Open GitHub’s website, choose Sign up, enter an email address, create a password, and select a username. Follow GitHub’s verification steps and confirm the email message sent to you.
Focus on understanding the purpose of this step. You can return to the details whenever you need them.
Choose a thoughtful username
Your GitHub username may become part of a default website address. Choose something professional, easy to type, and appropriate for customers. You can use your brand name when available.
Complete the welcome screens
GitHub may ask optional questions about your experience. You do not need programming experience. Continue until you reach your GitHub dashboard.
Confirm success
You are ready when you can sign in and see your GitHub home screen. Do not create a token yet; first, the next lesson will help you create the repository that holds your shop.
