Updating Products
Keep published listings accurate when products, prices, links, or content change.
We will take this one step at a time. You do not need prior experience. By the end of the lesson, you will know exactly what this concept means and what action comes next.
- When a listing needs an update
- How to avoid misleading information
- When to remove a product
Why updates matter
Retail listings change. Prices move, images are replaced, products become unavailable, and descriptions can become outdated. Your shop should not present old information as current.
Avoid fixed price promises
Unless your workflow refreshes prices reliably, use language that encourages visitors to check the retailer for the current price. Do not imply that a displayed price is guaranteed.
Focus on understanding the purpose of this step. You can return to the details whenever you need them.
Update the source item
Find the relevant product or Queue content, confirm the current retailer information, adjust the copy or link, and republish the listing.
Keep the affiliate link valid
If the destination changes, create or verify the correct affiliate URL before publishing. A normal retail link may send the visitor correctly but fail to credit your referral.
Remove unavailable or unsuitable products
Archive and remove products that are discontinued, repeatedly unavailable, no longer fit your audience, or cannot be represented accurately.
Do not create duplicates
Update the existing listing instead of publishing the same product again. Duplicate listings weaken navigation and make maintenance harder.
What to remember
- Published content needs ongoing accuracy checks.
- Use current affiliate links and cautious price language.
- Update existing listings instead of creating duplicates.
